Dog Walking the Red CarpetComment RSS

You already know that people aren’t the only stars to light up the silver screen. In between all of those Hollywood stars are a few talented and remarkable dogs that seem to make each and every production a whole lot more fun. This weekend, to honor those charismatic canines, the Fido awards will be held in London, England – and we’re sure that it’s going to be a barking good time!

This year on the nominees list, there’s a ton of fabulous dogs that made us laugh, cry, and of course, share in a love for these beautiful creatures, though we can’t say it was easy to narrow down those dogs. Even the event organizer, Toby Rose, agreed in a recent interview that there’s “an unprecedented run of dog successes at the international box office”. Some of this year’s nominees include the dog who played Marley in “Marley & Me”, George Clooney for the voice of the lead character in the upcoming “Fantastic Mr. Fox”, and the animated canine stars of “Bolt” and “Up”.

The Fido Awards are the first international awards for canine film stars. The annual award ceremony will be held November 22. Winners in each category will be decided by a panel of British film critics. For more info, visit WorldWideFido.com.

Imagine having the White House as your playground. Now imagine how much fun that could be for a dog!

Bo, the Obamas’ newest puppy, is sure to be a hit on Pennsylvania Avenue, especially if he plans on doing half of the things he does in the children’s book, Bo: America’s Commander in Leash. This fun and mischievous tale of six-month old Bo takes child readers on a journey through the White House as Bo does everything he can to make Washington fun. From stealing the President’s letter opener to dying the White House fountain green for St. Patrick’s Day, this clever story captures the playful nature of puppies.

According to USA Today, this lovable portrayal of the First Family and their pup was written by Naren Aryal and illustrated by Danny Moore. Set to go on sale April 23, the book promises to be a hit amongst children around the nation.

In spirit of the book release, K9HealthSolutions.com wants to know: what’s your favorite puppy story?

World’s Oldest Dog Celebrated!Comment RSS

Imagine what it would be like to be over 140 years old. How would you feel? What would you have experienced during that time? For Chanel, a 20 year old wire-haired dachshund, 140 years seems just like yesterday. Just recently, Chanel was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as being the world’s oldest dog, due to celebrate her 21st birthday in May of this year. When the book is released in September, it’ll be official. After all, Chanel’s birth certificate, dated photos and notes from veterinarians had to seal the deal.

Pet parent Denice Shaughnessy, 51, told Newsday that at one point she couldn’t afford much but knew she wanted to get a puppy. She and her daughter lived on mac and cheese, and Chanel shared the meals happily. During good times and bad, Shaughnessy admits to pampering her pooch, including administering massages after runs and letting Chanel choose between dog food and the human kind. And when Chanel is ready to go, it will be her choice, says Shaughnessy, adding, “I just hope she goes peacefully in her sleep.”

In so-called “dog years” Chanel will be 147 years old on her 21st birthday. To put that into perspective, if she were a human, she would have been born in 1869, four years after Abraham Lincoln’s death. Just think about all that has happened since 1869. Imagine all that Chanel has seen in her 20 years!

Let’s celebrate Chanel and her upcoming birthday by taking care of your pet so that he or she can be the next world record breaker! Let K9HealthSolutions.com give you the supplies you need.
